Admin Update™: Twice Weekly, What A Joke

OK. I know :-

I haven't posted since early July

I should never have said I would update often

the idea of "Admin Update™:" being twice weekly was stupid

next summer I do not want to upgrade a thing:)

I owe all two of my readers an apology for not making my blog more interesting

So I am not going to promise to blog at prescribed intervals, but I will explain why I have been absent from the blogsphere.

At school, I have been waiting for a new 2Mb Leased Line ,for our connection to the other two campuses and the internet, to be installed. I was (and still am) waiting patiently, but realised too late that it was not going to be set-up before the start of term. I was waiting for this new part of the network to be installed before upgrading to Tiger Server, but time was running out so I went for the upgrade.

Installation of Tiger server was pretty straight forward, but getting the clients (eMacs, iMacs, and Mac minis) to have their username lists populated was giving me all sorts of problems. It ended up being a DNS problem on the server, and all is now well (just in time, I might add).
